Awards Ceremony

On Monday, June 17, we had our end of year awards ceremony. Payton received an award for exemplary attendance. Savanah and Braden received the perseverance awards. Noah and Alice received the most improved awards. Austin, Cameron, Natalie, Payton, and Theresa received the code of honor awards. Although not everyone could receive an award, I was very proud of all the hard work that my class did over the past year. They all have a lot to be proud of!

Payson Park

On Friday, June 14, we finished off our community studies week with a nature walk to Payson Park. It had rained the day before, so it was a bit muddy. It took us about 25 minutes to get there. We saw lots of pretty flowers along the way. We also saw seagulls, butterflies, birds, squirrels, trees, rocks, water, bridges, moss, mushrooms, and oh so much more.

When we got there, they used the playground equipment for 15 minutes. Then, we had lunch there. We got a big group photo on the bridge before we headed back. After recess, everyone wrote about four things that they saw along the way on their observation sheet. It was a lot of fun!

Fire Department Visit

On Wednesday, June 12, we walked to the fire department from the post office. We met up with chief Andrews and firefighters Johnson and Fields. We saw the inside of the firehouse, many trucks, and tools. Everyone got to sit on the seat of one of the firetrucks. Before we left, everyone received an honorary fire chief hat. We walked back to school, and it took us 55 minutes. It was pretty cool! Enjoy the photos!

Post Office Trip

On Wednesday, June 12, we rode the bus to the Warren post office. The day before, we had a visit from Ms. Ripley, the postmaster. She read us a book and talked about how the mail gets sorted, trucked, etc. While we were there, we dropped off some thank you letters to Ms. Ripley. We also mailed letters to classmates. Everyone should have received their letters on Thursday or Friday. After this short visit, we walked to the fire department. Here’s a few pictures.
