Farewell First Graders!

I believe that is all the pictures I have to share. I would like to wish everyone a wonderful summer vacation. Please keep reading daily because it has too many benefits to be listed. Don’t forget to fill in your Barnes & Noble book logs. You only have to read 8 books over the summer, and then you can turn it in for a free book when you’re in Augusta at the Barnes & Noble. You might even see me there because it is one of my favorite places to go!

Don’t forget that you can also keep tuned up on your math by using dreambox from home. You can link in here on my blog under the resources for home use tab on the top of the page or you can download the app for a tablet. It’s great practice and great fun!

It has been a pleasure teaching these kiddos this year, and I couldn’t have asked for a better class for my first year of teaching! I’ll miss you all but can’t wait to see you in the hallway next year as you strut your stuff in second grade!

Love,

Mrs. Sturgis

The 1000’s Club Members!

I challenged the kiddos to see who could write their numbers to 1000 when we started with our number scrolls. I told them anyone who made it would get to share a popsicle or ice-cream treat with me at recess.

Mariah was the first to get there about three weeks before school ended. Next was Reuben on the last Wednesday and the day after was Lily. Here’s a picture of the three of them with their number scrolls displayed behind them on the board. Congratulations to all of them for persevering until the job was done!

Parachute Play!

Only a couple of pictures here, but the kiddos had fun playing some parachute games. We also did tug of war, but my energy must have been waning because there is only one photo to share. There were a few tears shed, a few scraped knees, and a few blisters to be had! Even with all that, some of them kept going back the the line for another match. Gluttons for punishment, I think!

Thank You!

I would like to say thank you to all of the parents for helping to make your child’s year in first grade one that they can be proud of. Thanks for helping with homework and reading logs.

Thank you to Mrs. Arey for the ice-cream sandwiches that we enjoyed at the end of the day today after P.E. Thanks also to Mrs. Curit for the brownies last week on Lily’s birthday and to Mrs. Myrick for the classroom treat on Madelyn’s birthday too! I’m sure I’ve forgotten somebody, but please know that I appreciated all of your kindnesses that were shared with our class.

Thanks again to Mrs. Bruno, Mrs. Dodge, and Mrs. Arey for chaperoning our field trip to the Discovery Museum in Bangor.

Lastly, thanks in advance to our Warren Community School PTF group who will be providing Popsicles for everyone to enjoy on our last day and for funding our Mad Science assembly and our Chewonki presentation.

Final Assembly with Awards on Wednesday

Tomorrow will be our end of year assembly at 10 a.m. in the gym. There will be awards given out for the following things: code of honor, perseverance, most improved, nearly perfect attendance, music, and art. If your child receives an award tomorrow it will be coming home in their back pack, so be on the look out.

Unfortunately every child cannot receive an award, but I will be giving each child a small gift from me tomorrow to show them that I am proud of each and every one of them. I also wrote a poem for our class and everyone received their own colored and laminated copy as a special treat from me today.
