PJ Party Story Hour on Monday!

I am inviting all of my students to join me on Monday evening, March 2, to celebrate the “Read Across America” event. It will be held in my classroom from 6-7 p.m. Students do not have to stay for the whole time, but you are more than welcome to.

You can wear your favorite pjs and bring your favorite book for me to read. Your brothers and sisters are welcome too, but parents do need to remain in the room/building during the event.

Please email me if you have any questions. Some students were absent today, so please do not feel that if you didn’t send in your r.s.v.p. slip that you can’t come. I would love to see all 15 of my students there for a carefree hour of reading just for the pure pleasure of it!

“Oh, the Places You’ll Go” when you read!

Tomorrow is the big “100th Day!”

We have so many fun activities planned for tomorrow during all of our workshop rotations. We’ll also be making our own trail mix with all of the bags of 100 items that everyone has been bringing in this week. There will be special poems, sing-a-longs, the sharing of everyone’s 100 item collections, and much more. Stay tuned for pictures to come over the weekend.

Thanks again for all of the hard work that you parents have done this week to help your child participate in all of this extra fun!

100th Day Advance Notice!

I will be sending home a letter tomorrow, but I thought I would give anyone who sees this post some advance notice and a chance to work on the project while you’re still at home. I will be asking students to bring in a small collection of 100 items to school this week, any time before Thursday. They can put it in a baggy, glue it to a sheet of paper, or display it in any other creative way.

Ideas might include toothpicks, paperclips, pennies, stickers, cut up pieces of paper, marbles, cotton balls, drawings, or “you name it.” Be as creative as you want!

Book Orders Will be Here by Wednesday

For all students who placed a book order in February, they should arrive at school by the end of the day on Wednesday. Since Wednesday is an early release, they may not be sorted and ready to go home until Thursday. Be on the lookout for them.

Anybody who didn’t get a chance to use their $5 coupon this month will still be able to use it in March if you place a $10 order. Let me know if you have any questions.

Double the Fun!

We have been practicing our doubles addition this week with two new games: Roll and Record Doubles and Snowy Day Doubles (Connect Four). I have attached the game board for the second game here: Math Doubles Game Board We also listened to two catchy tunes on YouTube about doubles. No More Snow, Please!

All of this snowy weather has been crazy! I hope we will be in the clear for all of next week, so we can all get back into our normal school day routines. Please, try to remember to send your child to school with ski pants, hat, and mittens along with a pair of shoes to wear in the classroom if they come wearing their boots. They love to be able to play in the snow on the playground vs. staying on the blacktop. The PTF has graciously donated many new sleds for everyone to enjoy! They are also welcome to leave their boots or ski pants in the classroom too.
